I believe I have successfully weaned myself from my laptop. The solution was simple – leave the laptop at office when I finish work in the evening. This has resulted in added enthusiasm to get things done at home and finding extra time to fit in a gym session daily. On the down side, I do miss reading other blogs and try to scan through the posts as soon as I get to the office in the morning. This also means that when I get a brain wave to write a post, I don’t have access to it. Being territorial, I cannot get myself to touch DH’s computer.
Life isn’t so bad without one’s laptop I tell you. There is a sense of liberation – more like getting out of a bad habit. I now take a book to the loo, read “from a book” before going to bed, can cook at a stretch without having the need to check whether anyone has sent me a mail or not and most important of all I have a life.
I did feel handicapped at times when I felt the sudden urge to check the benefits of a beauty product at make-up alley, when I wanted to check my bank balance etc, but the thrill of having controlled that urge far outweighs the loss of being in front of the screen all the time.
